If losing weight is among your New Year’s resolutions, the proFITness Club has some activities that can help you keep your resolve.
First- The Biggest Looser Challenge*. Registration is open now and starting on January 15th you have three month to prove yourself that You can DO IT! Just remember to Eat Right, Get Moving and Reduce Screen Time.
Eating right begins with making smarter choices such as eating foods that are lower in fat and have fewer calories. Eating smaller portions and learning how to read food labels and dietary guidelines also help. In general, consuming fewer calories and increasing physical activity will help someone lose weight.
In order to keep your resolution to maintain a healthy weight adult need a minimum of three hours of moderate aerobic activity each week.
If looking for ways to find the time to become more active, an easy solution is to reduce the time spent in front of a computer screen or watching television. Health experts suggest limiting screen time to two hours or less each day unless it pertains to work or homework.

Second-Yoga Detox Workshop* which will help you to kick start the natural detoxifying processes of the body and teach how to create the mental clarity and focus. The methods of Kundalini yoga will help you to employ a dynamic approach to detoxification through the use of cleansing and energizing techniques which restore a natural balance of the body and moves you towards your natural state.

We hope everyone had a great holiday season!

With the ringing in of a new year comes the ever so popular “resolutions.” More than likely, one of those resolutions involves losing weight or getting in better shape. Lucky you, ProFIT Club is here to your rescue…we offer many group fitness classes such as Zumba, Yogalates, Kickboxing, Kids’ Classes and our new: House Dance!

Here are some of the new and exciting things happening this month:

Kids’ Art Classes – Children will explore and create with varied media in an environment that encourages self expression and artistic development.

ages 5-10 – $15 a class or $55 for 4 classes

Sundays @ 11:30am

ZumbAtomic - The Zumba for Kids – is a program designed with the same protocol as the regular adult Zumba class, but is aimed for the little ones, with more jumping and fun songs!

ages 5-10 – $10 a class or $35 for 4 classes

Wednesdays @ 5:15pm

House Dance- a NEW high intensity workout. It is mainly danced to house music. It was created by Latinos and African Americans from NYC. This fun and high impact dance is sure to make your body groove!

Thursdays @ 5:30pm

Stop the New Year’s Resolution Insanity

Any time is a good time to put a plan into action. If you are committed to having your goal coincide with the New Year, plan now so you are ready to hit the ground running. Here are a few tips to help you get started:

Getting Motivated

You have to look inside yourself and find that fire–that passion and zest for life. You probably are as fat as you think. You probably are as out of shape as you think. Now let’s do something about it!

I don’t care what sport you played in high school or college. This is the here and now. What are you currently doing? It’s called “tough love.” Use it on yourself. Now let’s get fired up and make it happen. Make this the year that you regain control of your life or take your current fitness to the next level.

Goal Setting

First, set a fun, healthy or even crazy goal. Then go for it. Don’t focus on weight loss–let that be a by-product of your fitness goal. If you continue to focus on that number on your scale, you’ll drive yourself crazy.

Find a Class

You’re motivated. You’re dedicated. Now it’s time to find a fun class that will keep you motivated, in shape, and having fun. Make up your mind and commit to do that one thing that you’ve always thought about and wanted to do. Get your family, friends or coworkers to join you. There are thousands of exciting adventures out there for you to choose from. Don’t like the teaching style of an instructor? Try another! Don’t like Zumba? Try Kickboxing! Looking for a class at a time we don’t offer? Let us know and we will try to make it happen!

Real face of Jesus?

I saw today on the news the episode about Real Face of Jesus. They were featuring the work of computer artist who recreated the face of Jesus in 3D based on the Shroud of Turin. The Shroud of Turin is a linen cloth many people believe wrapped the body of Jesus after the crucifixion. I think it’s unreal to get the face from that cloth.

I have one painting and can name it The Face of Jesus as well.

Sadie, the Saddest Sadist

Couple month ago I read in Vogue the article about Mary Reid Kelley and her stylized black-and-white video ‘Sadie, the Saddest Sadist’. There was a photo of girl-Sadie- with her blackened eyes, white painted face-she looked like a human marionette. It inspired me for these paintings. I have friends who scared of the image of that girl. I wish I can see the movie myself to understand Sadie better. Does she scare you?

I discovered Etsy several years ago and since then, it’s quickly become one of my daily lunchtime clicks whenever I want to look for unique, homemade wares ranging from jewelry, clothing, vintage goods, to many other things.

I recently joined the company called Etsy and opened online art & jewelry store with them. Etsy is an e-commerce company (like ebay) that currently limits sales to handmade items.

Etsy does lots of things like ebay. They charge Sellers a listing fee and final sale percentage (although at $.20 and 3.5% they are way below what ebay charges) and listing stays for four months, not for couple of days. There is an ebay-like feedback system, and Etsy have integrated PayPal as a payment option.

The way Etsy implemented the tags method makes customers to shop very easy. Tags are keywords which used to sort items on Etsy. The first tag on an item determines which top-level category it’s listed under. Subcategories on Etsy are also based on tags. For Buyers tags are Categories. Just go to Categories section and select anything you interested in.

Another interesting way to buy is using Etsy Forum. You can post there new topic with request about what you looking for: model, color, made materials; and many-many Etsysts- Sellers will post for you related items.

Etsy has futures to shop by Colors or using Geolocator as well.

Try it! It’s really fun!

Future Alchemy section is another place where Buyers could enter requests for custom items. Sellers would then bid for the opportunity to do this. Currently this option is under construction but hopefully will be up soon.
